la dah dah dah . . .
you know it's getting cold here
the wind is blowing right through the walls
life without a heater will make you bitter
when winter calls
five years without a heater
breathing so much smoke
five years wrapped in those layers
feeling like my life's a joke
la dah dah dah . . .
stacking wood for winter
in late October it's getting cold
smoking countless rounds through
this ancient monument to drunks of old
five years without a heater
breathing so much smoke
five years wrapped in those layers
feeling like my life's a joke
la dah dah dah . . .

Bigass New Closet
02:36
|
|||
we need a place to store our sheets
you gotta look around look around
ran outta space so long ago
we had to look around look around
bigass new closet
carefully notch the plywood
bigass new closet
top shelf for toilet paper
now the pillows have a place to go
don't gotta look around look around
the door is wider since I took it down
you know I took it down took it down
bigass new closet
carefully notch the plywood now
bigass new closet
plenty of space for blankets
bigass new closet
smells like freshly cut lumber
bigass new closet
plenty of room for my stuff
bigass new closet
plenty of room for my stuff....

Framing at 2 am
03:24
|
|||
cutting lumber at 2am
running a 12 inch saw with a beer buzz
I hope I still have all of my thumbs now
damping the sound with door closed tight
driving the screws while my pregant wife sleeps
in the next room
working so carefully around the gas lines
think I got one of them studs a little off now
I think I'll just leave it in the interest of time
framing at two in the
morning I just can't stop myself
from driving the screws
framing at two in the morning
I just can't stop myself
I've got to get the framing done
framing at two in the morning
I've been working fourteen hours
and I'm almost done

Wiring Song
03:43
|
|||
pulling 12 gauge wire
my thumbs are pretty sore
cut the sheath with a razor
pull it back expose the core
trim off a half inch off the
PVC liner and you're good to go
splice that pigtail loop the
terminal wires just like you're a pro
now the washer has a dedicated line
the countertop has a dedicated line
dishwasher has a dedicated line
let's not leave the lights out!
fridge and the stove
got a circuit too
and the attic lights up like the
sun itself is shining through the
roof now`
rolling romex across the yard now
cut a big ass hole in my bedroom
making runs to the hardware store now
with the knick knack rats at the local mall
sweating on my side
waving a hook on a pole saw
winding through these rafters
my ribs are thumping now
you know I found a dead cat up here
right next to a bird
you know there's poetry somewhere in that
but I just keep wiring into the kitchen
snap the breakers in
with your right hand
death is waiting
two inches from your
use up every space in the
ground bus
flip the main and your wiring
job is done

How to Tape Drywall
03:27
|
|||
add a touch of water
mix it really smooth
the lower viscosity
will save you time in the end now
push the tape in the corners
gotta stick it
run a line on the seam
you got it
press the mud in the cracks now
gotta push it
form a really sharp corner(!)
hit the screw heads first
hit the the holes again
keep it quick you can always come back and
knock the ridges down
keep in mind excessive dust
interferes with adhesion
keep a damp rag handy to prep the
surface as you move
you gotta let it all dry out
gotta let it
set your fan on three
you got it
crack a cold one open
gotta crack it
gotta let it be
keep sanding
through the night now
feather the seams
get it right
work that block in
to the corners
skim that final
coat tonight

Cheap Vinyl Glue Party
03:40
|
|||
first you mop the subfloor
let it dry
then you patch the cracks up
with a suitable compound
then you wait for that to dry
until it's hard enough to sand it
and when that's drying get the vinyl out
cut it a half inch bigger than the floor
lay it all out and trim for fit
make sure to leave some slack under the door
once it's cut to size you're almost there
get out the adhesive and a trowel
roll back just a little more
than half the vinyl now
then apply the glue with broad strokes
make that it's even
lay the first half so gently
avoiding bubbles as you roll
get the rubout stick and
push the air out from the center
roll the other half back
you got to watch out
don't glue yourself into the corner
work your way to the egde now
you got to watch out
for excess glue oozing from the edge
once it's all glued down you're almost there
wipe the excess off with a damp towel
glue the final pieces by the door
now you have to wait at least 12 hours
yeah yeah yeah

Smooth Operation
03:06
|
|||
carefully flash the opening
work from the bottom up
carefully drill the flange now
at every 8 inches or less
run a caulk bead around the edge
la dah dah
make sure you get around all the holes
la dah dah dah
start from a lower corner
la da dah dah
drive the screw in and check for plumb
la da dah
rotate the window as needed
try not to move too fast
break off the shims in the gaps
plumb it one more time
start setting the screws
keep checking for square
go inside and check for
smooth operation
take all the time you need
it'll be here forever
the last thing you want is
a difficult window
once the screws are installed
on the flange
caulk the heads and flash again
on the outside
seal up all the gaps
with spray foam now
test for smooth operation
test for smooth operation
